The HIFU Clinic provides effective minimally invasive treatment for localised prostate cancer. HIFU is the first Polish center for comprehensive diagnostics and modern treatment of prostate cancer. The minimally invasive HIFU procedure has become a hallmark of the clinic.
Simultaneously, Robotic da Vinci prostatectomies are being performed in the center alongside laparoscopic procedures, according to individual indications. Transperineal real-time elastic fusion prostate biopsies are performed in the Center on the newest generation Trinity platform.
HIFU Clinic works with the leader in HIFU procedures, Dr Stefan Thuroff from Munich. HIFU thermal ablation for localised prostate cancer treatment treats the cancer by focusing high-intensity ultrasound waves on the affected area, causing localised heating that destroys the cells in the gland without damaging the surrounding tissue.
For non-invasive treatment of localised prostate cancer, a transrectal ultrasound probe is used to precisely deliver the thermal energy to the selected prostate tissue. When the ultrasound waves are focused on a specific point within the prostate or other tissue intended to be treated, a great deal of finely localised heat is generated resulting in thermal ablation and death of cells at that site.
HIFU thermal ablation is a non-invasive (incision-less and radiation-free) treatment that has been used in the treatment of prostate cancer, as well as other soft tissue malignancies in humans since 1993.
