Maria Vega is a Senior Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist with over 15 years’ experience supporting people affected by cancer across both the NHS and private healthcare sectors in the UK. Her clinical practice spans the cancer pathway, with particular expertise in supporting patients during active treatment, managing treatment-related toxicities, and optimising recovery and quality of life. Maria serves on the Executive Committee of the British Society of Integrative Oncology (BSIO) and is an active member of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN), the UK Oncology Nursing Society (UKONS), and the British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS). She is a certified Western medical acupuncturist with a focus on oncology and palliative care, holds certification in auricular acupuncture, is a certified Cancer Exercise Specialist (CETI), and is a facilitator of Mindfulness-Based Cancer Recovery (MBCR). Her work is grounded in evidence-informed practice and a whole-person model of care. She is committed to advancing integrative oncology approaches that complement conventional treatment and address patients’ physical, emotional, and psychological wellbeing.
