Cancer Information and Support Services (CISS)
Profile:

Cancer Information and Support Services (CISS) is a registered charity that was set up in 1993 to help those with cancer in South West Wales. The first cancer information centre opened in Swansea early in 1994. A second centre was opened, with the aid of Lottery funding, in Neath in 2004 and later Carmarthenshire.

Their cancer support centres and outreach service are run by a team of dedicated staff and volunteers, most of whom have backgrounds in counselling and/or health care. They offer a free, confidential listening and counselling service to anyone whose life has been affected by cancer, whether patient, relative, carer or friend. CISS will carry out home visits and can also visit patients in hospitals and hospices at the request of health professionals and/or family/carers.

Notes:

The CISS telephone helplines at Swansea (01792 655025) and Neath (01639 642333) are available to anyone whose life has been affected by cancer.

CISS operates from a central information/drop-in centre near Swansea city centre, manned between the hours of 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

Specialisms:

Counselling, Support, Information.
