Chai Cancer Care is the Jewish Community’s Cancer Support Organisation, providing services for patients and their family and friends affected by a cancer diagnosis. Chai provides a wide range of services, including complementary therapies, counselling, group activities and advisory services and also has a medical outpatient rehabilitation and palliative care service. The Centre provides services for all ages, including children. If a child has cancer they encourage families to also contact CampSimcha (www.campsimcha.org.uk). Clients may use the services from pre-diagnosis e.g. concerns about family history of cancer/genetic predisposition or having investigations/tests, to late stage illness, and at any point in-between for as long as necessary, from seeking one-off advice to using the services for many years. Chai does not charge clients for their services.
Chai operates from 8 sites across the UK (Hendon, North West and South London, Hackney, Essex, Southend, North and South Manchester). Clients who are unable to get to a Chai site can receive one-to-one services in their own homes, providing they live within geographical reach of a site. Chai also provides telephone counselling and advice services for clients not within reach of a Chai site, across the UK and internationally. Freephone confidential helpline 0808 808 4567.
