Louise Kemp
Profile:

Louise spent many years giving support to bereaved parents and facilitated group bereavement work, as well as giving support to older people in her community and to those affected by cancer. This professional experience and training, and the personal experience of having family and close friends diagnosed with cancer, has helped in her understanding of the specific issues that can arise dealing with a diagnosis, going through treatment and facing the future and what that might hold. The essence of the way she works is based around creating a relationship with a client where they can feel totally safe, accepted and understood. She feels it can be very helpful in understanding how previous difficult experiences can affect us now, when we have to go through another traumatic experience such as a serious threat to our health. Louise qualified with a Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling with Person centred and Psychodynamic models as her core training. She has since gained an accreditation with BACP as a counsellor/psychotherapist.

Notes:

Louise Kemp is one of a group of individual cancer counsellors and psychotherapists in the UK who have been specially selected by Yes to Life on the basis of their suitability. All of this group are fully qualified and insured and have a minimum of 2 years experience of working with and supporting cancer patients and their relatives. When choosing a therapist, apart from confidence in their experience, it is always important to check that you feel comfortable with them. For this reason, it is a good idea to have an initial session before making your decision. Other specialisms include working with those who have experienced abuse, acute and chronic illness, other life threatening illness, dementia, loss, pregnancy and birth related traumas and losses.

Specialisms:

Anxiety, Bereavement, Cancer, Depression
