Tenovus provides cancer support, information and services that empower and encourage people, helping them to have an improved quality of life.
In 1943 Tenovus Cancer Care was founded by 10 local businessmen supporting a friend in need. There were ten of them so they called themselves Tenovus.
In the 1960s, Tenovus built the Tenovus Institute for Cancer Research in Cardiff which carried out vital research into the causes of cancer. Scientists at the institute were at the forefront of the development of the drug Tamoxifen.
Since then they have concentrated their efforts on cancer and are now recognised for their pioneering work. In 2009, the Mobile Cancer Support Unit was launched at the Celtic Manor to bring cancer care to the heart of the patients community.
