CLAN Cancer Support is an independent charity for anyone affected by any type of cancer at any time from diagnosis onwards. Based at CLAN House, on Westburn Road, Aberdeen, their services reach the whole of Grampian, Orkney and Shetland through a network of local services in Ballater, Inverurie, Peterhead, Stonehaven, Kirkwall and Lerwick.
By offering a wide range of support services, CLAN Cancer Support aims to meet the individual needs of cancer patients, their carers, family members and friends. For those travelling to Aberdeen for treatment and support they can offer further support through accommodation facility, CLAN Haven, open 24/7, 365 days a year.
The services range from counselling to complementary therapies and social and group activities, all available free of charge to anyone affected by cancer. In Moray, CLAN’s counselling services are available by telephone or teleconferencing.
CLAN also has a Doctor-led Support Service, providing a free consultation service with their Doctor who has extensive experience of supporting people to live with the challenges of cancer and its treatment. In addition, CLAN provides information about the use of mistletoe as a complementary therapy for those with cancer but who wish to use this in conjunction with hospital treatments. CLAN works closely with the Grampian Homeopathic Service based at Camphill Medical Practice and clients wishing to receive mistletoe can be referred to Camphill.
