A Day at a Time – A Daily Blog of Life in Lockdown

A wonderful Qi Gong practice this morning, activating energy and flow in the body ending with bamboo in the wind; feet together and letting the body gently rock and sway. I experience a feeling of flow and ease; mind, body and heart at one.

Lee Holden the teacher, said that Qi Gong actually translates as play rather than practice, bringing the idea of lightness and playfulness. And I enjoyed what he went onto say about bamboo in the wind:

“.. reminding us to let go and do less. We as human beings like to do more but if a bamboo acted like a human being it would think it had to blow the wind! That would be a lot of stress to bamboo. It isn’t blowing the wind it is moving with the wind.”

This is the energy I am practicing cultivating right now – less striving, more allowing. Next week I am leading an introduction to mindfulness with a question and answer session on the Wigwam Online Forum. It will be recorded and go on the website. I get anxious about these sorts of things and have a tendency to over prepare which leads me to feeling even more anxious when it starts. My intention now is to have an overall idea of what I want to cover and let it flow on the day. The question is can I let go and trust? The knowledge is there, and I know that in the right circumstances it flows easily. It is being with the uncertainty and that is the very topic I will be addressing. I am being invited to sit with the uncertainty.

Do you have the patience to wait
Till your mud settles and the water is clear?
Can you remain unmoving
Till the right action arises by itself?”

I have had the top line of this going around my head for the last couple of days and I was searching for the poem it came from. Today I googled the first line and now I remember!
