As part of our partnership, we are so happy to present our second video from our 777 series, this time themed around Hope.
“Hope” is wanting something to happen and expecting it to be possible. It’s such a rich term and is laden with desire, aspiration, motivation, confidence and the expectation of dreams coming true.
Why Hope? We like and dare to hope because we all want the best that things can possibly be, regardless of circumstances. For people impacted by cancer – as a patient, a carer, a relative or friend – there is always space for optimism. We’re not talking about false hope or misplaced confidence but we are talking about being present and valuing the moments we all experience in real-time.
The importance of hope cannot be overstated; it keeps us desiring one more thing, and then another, whatever that may be, even if it’s just one more happy day. The great thing about hope is that we can all help create realistic hope for everyone else. If we look at situations through a realistic lens and ask ourselves “What is the best possible outcome here?” then that is what we need to share with those around us, and individually and collectively hope for that outcome. Caroline Holmyard – Olympian, NoWorriesApp.com CEO and creator of the NoWorriesApp – agreed and said that having received her own cancer diagnosis, over a decade ago, she had to hope for the best outcome and consider her young children and the best outcome for them. Caroline had needed to think about the future but also needed to ensure that she lived in the moment and be present for those around her. The mind and the body had to be in harmony and in the same place.
Miquel, CEO at Yes to Life, was clear about not giving false hope to patients, stressing the importance of the here, the today and the now. The past is done and we do not know what the future holds but we can still remain hopeful about the future. There is always a happiness dividend that can be received with joy every single day. And we hope for one more after that…
Hope gives us all possibilities and options. Hope makes us feel empowered to take control of our situations and make decisions. Hope enables us all to strive and overcome challenges so that we can do the best that we can do. Not just for ourselves but for those around us. We do have the power to both experience, and gift, hope.
The collaboration between Yes to Life and NoWorriesApp.com puts hope at the centre of a new seasonal campaign “The Stocking of Hope”.
