More about mindfulness

Mindfulness training helps us to become aware of how crucial an effect our thoughts have on our well-being. As we practice, we begin to notice how much time we spend worrying about the future or mulling over the past, sometimes to the extent that we are not even fully present to the pleasant moments in our lives.
The simple mindfulness techniques that we will practice will help you to take one day at a time so that you can focus more easily on the present. With kindness, we will gently practice turning towards challenging emotions and difficult or painful thoughts, thereby strengthening resilience and coping skills.

Mindfulness is a well-researched, non-religious and effective means for reducing stress, alleviating anxiety and promoting emotional well-being. With practice we learn how to live alongside the challenges we may be experiencing rather than suffering from them, making it a vital practice for living with illness and coming to terms with loss and one’s own mortality.
