It’s with immense sadness we learned today of the passing away of Sophie Sabbage, a unique and powerful voice, who has unfailingly spoken out on behalf of those with cancer for over 5 years, since her own terminal diagnosis.
Sophie has blazed a brilliant trail with her exceptional writing and public speaking, in which her unique mix of life experience and writing ability combined to the most powerful effect. In addition, her own personal trajectory has provided inspiration to thousands, as she engaged with the immense physical and emotional challenges she faced each day, in the most excruciatingly public way.
She courageously walked a precarious path which required that she simultaneously embrace uncertainty, and all the fear and discomfort that comes in its wake, while doing everything possible to extend and improve the life she had.
That she lived so long past her predicted lifespan, and achieved so much in those precious additional years, is a testament to the power of such a life, and the light she generated will continue to illuminate and inspire us all for many years to come.
We were extremely proud to call Sophie a Patron of Yes to Life, and we are enormously grateful for her support for our work.
Sending love to Sophie’s husband John, daughter Gabriella, and her family and loved ones.
Yes to Life Trustees, Staff and Volunteers.
