Summer Healthy Food (I)

21 Jul 2025

Summer is here with its familiar warmth, longer days, and the scent of fresh herbs and sun-ripened fruit in the air. But for many going through cancer, this season doesn’t always feel light. Appetite may change, energy might dip, and the body often craves a kind of nourishment that goes beyond just food on a plate.

I believe food can be one of our gentlest allies—a way to reconnect with the body, feel empowered in small everyday choices, and bring a little joy and color into each day, even in the hardest moments. That’s why I am incredibly proud to launch this new four-part recipe series: a collection of vibrant dishes created especially for you.

This is the first of four recipe bundles we have created. Each set contains fifteen recipes—five starters, five mains, and five nourishing snacks or smoothies. The focus isn’t just on eating healthily, but on preparing meals that feel good to make, smell wonderful as they come together, and soothe the body with every bite.

The recipes are fresh, hydrating, easy on digestion, and rich with flavor—perfect for warm days when you need sustenance but not heaviness. You’ll find soups served chilled, colourful salads that take minutes to prepare, comforting mains with herbs and spices that support immunity and digestion, and refreshing snacks that lift energy when it dips.

What makes these recipes unique isn’t just the ingredients, though many are known for their anti-inflammatory or immune-boosting properties. It’s also the way they’re made—with simplicity, clarity, and care. Every recipe includes simple instructions and a gentle explanation of why certain ingredients matter. I want these dishes to offer more than just nutrition—I want them to feel like an act of love.

Food becomes something different during cancer treatment and recovery. It becomes a dialogue between body and spirit. A smoothie might be the only thing you can face one morning, but it can still deliver antioxidants, hydration, and a quiet comfort. A bowl of lentil and sweet potato curry might not just feed you—it might ground you, soften fatigue, or simply remind you that healing is still happening, one spoonful at a time.

In the coming weeks, I will share more seasonal recipes tailored to support your energy and recovery as the weeks evolve. Some will focus on strengthening the immune system; others will bring warmth and balance to cooler days. But all of them have be created with the same care—and the same belief that food, at its best, can help us feel not just nourished, but alive.

So here’s to you—and to your summer.

I hope this collection bring a little peace to your plate and some brightness to your day.

I am honoured to walk beside you.

With love and deep respect,

Miquel Leon-Canete. CEO Yes to Life
