Edison Astudillo works in a humanistic way, recognising the person as a unique individual able to find their own solutions to life problems. He aims to communicate empathy and unconditional acceptance and to develop a relationship where the client feels free to be themselves and explore what is happening to them in a safe environment. He has worked for many organisations and offered counselling to people who are affected by cancer, MS and chronic pain, where counselling has been described as very useful.
In his current role, he offers counselling support to clients with a diverse range of problems, including clients facing highly emotional circumstances such as psychological trauma, depression, thoughts of suicide and self-harming. In his work he uses techniques from different approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, EMDR and Hypnotherapy, as he believes that having a workable knowledge of other approaches can provide clients with more choice.

Edison uses a single session framework where in one 2-hour session, the focus is on the positive changes and how they can be achieved. No more sessions are needed. Single Session Approach (SSA) is an empirically based approach designed to be very brief in helping people to resolve psychological and emotional problems in one session. SSA has been used in different countries including Canada, USA, Australia and the UK as meets the demand for a service that is available at the time when the client needs it without requiring a commitment to long term work.
There is a one-time charge of £270 for the session. This includes a one-time 2 hours telephone session and a one hour follow up 2-3 weeks later if required. Payment through PayPal paid in advance.
Edison Astudillo is one of a group of individual cancer counsellors and psychotherapists in the UK who have been specially selected by Yes to Life on the basis of their suitability. All of this group are fully qualified and insured and have a minimum of 2 years experience of working with and supporting cancer patients and their relatives. When choosing a therapist, apart from confidence in their experience, it is always important to check that you feel comfortable with them. For this reason, it is a good idea to have an initial session before making your decision.
