Dr David McGavin is the co-founder of Blackthorn Trust, the Clinical Lead of Kairos Rehabilitation Trust, and GP with Special Interest in pain management.
Kairos Rehabilitation Trust is a registered charity with the aim to relieve sickness and promote the advancement of heath within the community through the use and practice of the principles of Anthroposophic medicine in combination with any other conventional or evidence based therapeutic modalities.
Kairos’ therapeutic methods are based on anthroposophic medical concepts developed by Rudolf Steiner and employed in some NHS GP practices e.g. Blackthorn Trust in Maidstone.
Kairos Rehabilitation Trust doctors concentrate particularly on identifying past trauma and illnesses as well as personal achievements, aspirations, desires, attitudes, capacities, constitutional strengths and weaknesses. A broad diagnosis is needed to open a new perspective on the situation.
The centre offers three anthroposophic therapy options:
Rhythmical Massage and Eurythmy (gentle movement) to restore warmth and sleep
Transpersonal Art Therapy for addressing pain
Blackthorn Trust is also a registered charity, providing holistic, life enhancing opportunities for people with mental health and long-term conditions. The trust offers specialist therapies and a range of workshops within the tranquil grounds in Maidstone. The site includes a large biodynamic garden, a café, charity shop, therapy rooms and workshops.
The holistic therapies address the whole person and to support to manage symptoms while at the same time strengthening confidence and motivation. The individual therapies offered are Arts Counselling, Biographical Counselling, CranioSacral Therapy, Eurythmy Movement, Metal Colour Light Therapy, Rhythmical Massage Therapy.
