Supporting someone through a tough time is incredibly rewarding for both the person you support, and also for you. Helping someone feels fantastic and can support you in understanding your own strengths. Through our scheme, you’ll gain an accredited training certificate, listening and mentoring skills, experience and knowledge which can help lead you onto other voluntary and paid work. Peer mentors will draw on their own experiences of being a cancer survivor.
We welcome applicants from all sections of the community and particularly those who have been affected by cancer.
Above all, we are looking for volunteers who are enthusiastic about the role and happy to provide short term, intensive support.
The role of a Peer Mentor best suits someone who is able to offer their time for at least three months, consisting of a regular hourly online mentoring session for up to 12 sessions.
You will be required to attend online induction training and have access to ongoing online training to support you in your role.
