‘Yoga Therapeutics’ for Managing Pain
Friday 11th April 10:30-12:00
Pain is a common symptom in people with cancer, and can be a result of the cancer itself, or a side effect of treatments. Stress and anxiety can also influence how we experience pain. Pain can be experienced anywhere in the body eg; painful joints, at the site of surgery or radiotherapy, or in the hands and feet as in the case of neuropathy. Pain is complex and how we experience pain is individual.
In this workshop, we will discuss what pain is, share our experiences, and try some simple yoga practices together to experience what might help.
This workshop is suitable for everyone. No prior experience of yoga is necessary, and all practices can be adapted to suit your needs.
Therapeutic Yoga practices can help to:
– Ease stiffness and pain in muscles and joints
– Reduce inflammation
– Reduce stress and anxiety, which can change our experience of pain
Jackie is a CNHC registered yoga therapist, and yoga and meditation teacher with over 25 years experience. She has experienced cancer herself, and used yoga therapy to support her throughout her treatments and beyond.
