Navigating an integrative approach to cancer — bringing together conventional treatment with lifestyle and complementary approaches — can involve a steep learning curve. Many people want to empower themselves with good-quality information and evidence, but can quickly feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of books available.
The Yes to Life Wigwam Book Club offers a gentle, shared way of learning, where you don’t have to read everything alone.
What is the Yes to Life Wigwam Book Club?
Do you have an ever-growing pile of books by your bed, or saved in an online basket for “one day”? You’re not alone.
Reading often becomes part of an integrative cancer journey, yet finding the time — and knowing where to start — can feel challenging. The Wigwam Book Club exists to make this process more supportive, connected and manageable.
We read and explore books that relate to:
Our aim is not to agree on everything, but to learn together, reflect, and share perspectives in a way that supports wellbeing rather than increasing pressure or overwhelm.
People engage with the books in different ways. Some prefer to read, while others listen via Audible or similar platforms — all approaches are welcome. Members often notice that perspectives vary depending on where someone is in their cancer journey, and this diversity of experience enriches the discussion. Many people also share that when a book is revisited at a later stage, it is read through a new lens, with different insights or information becoming relevant. There is no single “right” way to engage — the Book Club honours that our needs, reflections and understanding evolve over time.
Our next read is usually announced monthly to those registered on the Book Club mailing list.

We may also, where possible, invite authors to join or speak in future sessions.
How does the Wigwam Book Club run?
The Book Club meets monthly online via Zoom and is Facilitated by a trained Wigwam Facilitator.
The intention is for sessions to be:
This is not an advice-giving space. The focus is on shared reflection rather than debate or expertise.
While attendance at every meeting isn’t required, we ask that those who register do so with the intention of reading the chosen titles and joining discussions when possible, to help us manage group size and continuity.
New members are always welcome, though we may occasionally need to limit numbers or create additional groups if interest grows.
Above all, the Book Club aims to be a space that supports learning while reducing, rather than adding to, overwhelm.
