A Day at a Time – A Daily Blog of Life in Lockdown
Woke up at 6 am, got up and wrote yesterday’s blog. Sat around drinking coffee and taking things easy, letting go of the structure of the week – it is Good Friday. Looking through emails I received one from Plum Village, the monastic community founded by Thich Nhat Hanh (Thay) after he was exiled from Vietnam. It was an invitation to a live talk with the monastics – I was already too late. I went to the website and came across this talk by Thay on Being peace:

He describes Buddhism (and in turn mindfulness) as the art of being peace and the art of promoting peace in those around you, your community and in the world. Within minutes I found myself in an argument that came from nowhere about nothing with my husband …. mmm a slip in my magnificence! Better get back to my practice – meditation and now the wonderful practice of Qi Gong. I choose to go out in the garden, it is warm enough, and I practice Qi Gong and then meditate. My husband meanwhile chooses a walk with the dogs. We are both being peace when we next see each other, and all is well again between us – no war!
