Marketing, Communications and PR Manager

Part-time, 3 days per week
Contract: Fixed Term
Location: Remote plus some event travel.
Reports to: CEO

Role Purpose

The Marketing, Communications and PR Manager will oversee and deliver Yes to Life’s marketing, communications, and PR strategy. This role is responsible for raising the charity’s profile, strengthening our brand, growing and engaging our audience, and ensuring consistent, compelling messaging across all channels, including social media.

This is a hands-on, strategic role suited to someone who can both plan and execute effectively within a small charity environment.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications Strategy

• Develop and oversee an integrated marketing and PR strategy aligned with Yes to Life’s mission and objectives
• Ensure consistent brand voice and messaging across all communications
• Identify opportunities to increase awareness, reach, and engagement among key audiences

PR & Media

• Lead PR activity, including press releases, media pitches, and relationship-building with journalists and partners
• Identify and secure opportunities for media coverage, thought leadership, and speaking opportunities
• Support the CEO and senior team with messaging for public-facing communications

Social Media & Digital

• Oversee Yes to Life’s social media presence across relevant platforms
• Oversse the plan and content calendars to support campaigns, awareness days, fundraising, and service promotion
• Monitor performance, engagement, and growth, using insights to refine approach

Content Creation

• Oversee the creation of high-quality content, including website copy, blogs, newsletters, and social posts
• Ensure content is accurate, sensitive, and appropriate for people affected by cancer

Collaboration & Support

• Work closely with colleagues, freelancers, and external agencies as required
• Support fundraising and service delivery teams with marketing and communications needs

Person Specification

Essential

• Proven experience in marketing, communications and PR, ideally within the charity or health sector
• Strong understanding of digital marketing and social media management
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work strategically while also delivering hands-on outputs
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage priorities within limited hours

Desirable

• Experience working with health, wellbeing, or cancer-related organisations
• Knowledge of media relations in the UK charity sector
• Experience managing campaigns with limited budgets

Website Content Manager

Hours: Part-time, 2 days per week
Contract: Fixed Term (9 months)
Location: Remote plus some event travel
Reports to: CEO

Role Purpose

The Website Content Manager will lead the implementation, redevelopment, and ongoing management of the Yes to Life website. This role is responsible for shaping clear, accessible, and compassionate website content that supports people affected by cancer, improves user experience, and reflects the charity’s mission and values.

This is a practical, project-focused role, combining hands-on delivery with collaboration across teams to ensure the website meets technical, content, and user requirements. 

Key Responsibilities

Website Structure & Implementation

• Implement an agreed website structure and content plan, ensuring clear navigation and logical user journeys
• Reshape and reorganise existing content in line with the approved site map and priorities
• Ensure all website content is easy to find, understand, and appropriate for people affected by cancer, with accessibility and usability at the forefront
• Collaborate closely with webmasters and developers to ensure content is implemented accurately, efficiently, and in line with technical requirements
• Support testing and quality assurance before launch, helping identify and resolve issues
• Contribute to ongoing website maintenance, updates, and improvements to keep content current, accessible, and effective

Content Development & Management

• Rewrite, reshape, and create website content to ensure clarity, consistency, and accuracy
• Work with internal teams to gather, review, and approve content
• Maintain tone of voice that is compassionate, trustworthy, and aligned with Yes to Life’s values

Resources & PDFs

• Create and manage downloadable resources, including PDFs, guides, and information sheets
• Ensure resources are well-structured, clearly written, and visually consistent
• Maintain version control and ensure content remains up to date

Design, Graphics & Visual Content

• Work with designers or create simple graphics as required for the website and resources
• Ensure visual content supports accessibility and readability
• Liaise with external freelancers or agencies where needed

Website Management & Quality Control

• Upload and manage content using the website CMS
• Ensure content meets basic accessibility, usability, and SEO best practices
• Regularly review and update content to maintain accuracy and relevance

Person Specification

Essential

• Proven experience managing and developing website content
• Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex information
• Experience implementing website structure and managing user journeys
• Confidence in creating and managing PDFs and digital resources
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

Desirable

• Experience working within a charity, health, or wellbeing organisation
• Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design
• Basic graphic design skills (e.g. Canva, Adobe, or similar tools)
• Experience working with CMS platforms (e.g. WordPress)
