The Anniversary launch event brought together a diverse array of guests, including healthcare professionals, advocates, supporters, volunteers, staff and individuals impacted by cancer, to commemorate two decades of unwavering commitment to our mission.
Amidst the iconic backdrop of the House of Commons, attendees had the pleasure to hear from prestigious speakers and supporters, and enjoyed networking aimed at fostering collaboration and driving positive change in the cancer healthcare landscape.
The event kicked off with an opening address by Dr Penny Kechagioglou, Sheila Dillon and Prof Kal Sikora, highlighting the remarkable journey of Yes to Life since its beginning and underscoring the organisation’s significant contributions to the integrative cancer care landscape over the past two decades.
Robin Daly, Yes to Life Founder and Chairman, presented the “Yes to Life Charter for Oncology”, a pioneering document that sets out the charity’s aspirational vision for the qualities that will underpin a modern, empathic, and caring NHS cancer service to meet the needs of current and future patients.
TV Actress Barbara Flynn and Chirs Lewis, founder of “Chris’s Cancer Community” also spoke at the event, sharing with our guest about their own personal experiences with cancer and how Yes to Life was the future for personalised cancer care. Barbara Flynn, read a message from Dr. Michael Dixon OBE, Head of the Royal Medical Household.
We also hear from our Chief Executive, Miquel Leon-Canete, the plans for this Anniversary Year, with the launch of the Yes to Life “patients” App in June 2024, events throughout the year, our conference and plenty of opportunities to get involved with this special year of celebrations.
Throughout the event, attendees had the opportunity to connect with fellow advocates, share personal experiences, and forge meaningful connections in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Speaking about the milestone anniversary, Robin Daly expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of the Yes to Life community and reiterated the organisation’s commitment to continue championing holistic and personalized care for individuals affected by cancer.
