The Patient Perspective
Episode #1.17 - Date: 18 Aug 2022

Chris Lewis is a long-term survivor of cancer who has built a large following on social media through being prepared to ‘tell it the way he sees it’ about the state of cancer care in the UK and worldwide. He is openly critical of both the NHS and other key players in cancer care when it comes to listening to the needs of patients and building care that meets those needs. In this episode, Chris takes the opportunity to discuss the changes he wants to see with podcast hosts Senior Oncologist Dr Penny Kechagioglou and patient advocate Robin Daly.

  1. Susan Lowery says:

It was very refreshing to hear Chris Lewis speak so candidly about the state of cancer care and the NHS!
He is so right that we all want the same solution but when we tried to talk to my husband’s oncologist about dietary supplements to aid his prostate cancer treatment they said on no account could he have the NHS treatment if he took anything else! We asked them to consider if there was anything that would interfere with the new drug but they did not want to know! It is so frustrating!

  2. Chris Lewis says:

    Hi Susan,
Many thanks for your kind words. I think we all know how bad things have become in cancer care. I feel that unless we admit the problem we will never find the right answer.
Unfortunately, the NHS is very limited in what it can offer regarding cancer. I will still be fighting to ensure that this improves.

Very best to you both, Chris
