Role Outline –Volunteer Web Content Editor 

Yes to Life is looking for a committed volunteer to help us manage our online Life Directory of Therapies and Providers of Integrative Medicine for cancer. A cancer diagnosis can be extremely stressful and the volume of information available on the internet can be overwhelming. The Life Directory aims to provide valuable information in a manageable way. While the information is primarily UK-centric, it has been expanding rapidly to include providers all over the world.

Skills and experience needed

  • Self-motivated and comfortable working with minimal supervision
  • Be accurate, careful and have an eye for detail
  • Good at spelling, grammar, punctuation
  • Have the ability to be systematic and thorough
  • Get satisfaction from getting information correct and complete
  • Have their own computer with an internet connection
  • Have some experience in web content writing or editing
  • Have basic knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Have a good knowledge of web search
  • An interest in integrative medicine or complementary therapies is helpful

 

What will you do?

  • You will be responsible for the accuracy of the Life Directory listings which consist health and complementary therapy practitioners, clinics, suppliers and organisations that provide a service or treatment that is beneficial to cancer patients and their families
  • You will follow a schedule of a handful of listings each week, compare them to the practitioner’s own website and make sure that the details listed in our directory are accurate.
  • This research will be done via a pre-determined list that will be provided by us and the research will be performed using our guidelines and selected sources. The work is conducted solely in online platforms

Time commitment

This role is for a minimum of 6 months. Candidates must be able to dedicate a minimum of 4 hours a week. All work can be done remotely.

Training, Support and Expenses

You will be required to attend online induction training and have access to ongoing online training to support you in your role.
